CAMEL TROPHY WHEELIN' AT THE BEACH! VIDEO - TRAXXAS DEFENDER TRX4 1/10 »

The Camel Trophy goes wheelin' at the beach! This customized remote controlled car out of the amazing Traxxas TRX-4® Scale and Trail™ Crawler can certainly take a beating. Nothing like lots of salt water and sand to really test out the capabilities of your rig.

The beach is a big "No-No" for lots of RC enthusiasts, but we are eager to test out the rig's capabilities in such harsh conditions.

Packed with GoPro's and DJI Mavic 2 drone, we headed out to the Galveston Island here in Texas, in search for that sandy spot, preferably with dunes, a place where we could get to have fun wheeling with the Traxxas TRX4 Defender...and we found it at San Luis Pass (Beach)!  Watch the video »

TIPS & SUGESTIONS

Playing with salt water and sand can be a very bad thing for your RC. Many hobbyists would recommend  to stay away form it. We did it anyways, and here you can see some precautious we took into consideration right after the shoot:

1. Bring in fresh water bottles or a tank that you can use to thoroughly rinse out both the chassis and the body after you are done playing.

2. Before the rinsing takes place, make sure you flip the chassis down, hold it up-side down at a 45 degrees angle to make sure that water does not make it to the receiver, etc. and also to ensure that it will run off quickly out of the chassis. I ended up ruining the receiver but mainly because I rinsed it down with way too much pressure once I got home.

3. Once dried, use your favorite mechanical lubricant afterwards to carefully address the areas that might suffer the most from salt water and sand. (I use a combination of WD-40 and some of the recommended oil for RC's.)
